nighthawk AX3000 RAX35
I am having an issue with a number of devices attached to the system. I noted 41 showing up in the app. Some of the devices in the house cannot connect to the internet while some can.
I can't get into the router to factory reset it, I hold reset button down for 30 seconds but the LED never changes.
Has there been a change how to factory reset the router?

No.
If the pin in the hole doesn't work, you can reset from the browser graphical user interface (GUI).
Visit the support pages:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Erase the settings.
