Is there any instructions on using the netgear VPN service. My setup is that i have the ISP router/modem which is sending everything around the house just fine. What I wanted to do was add a ...

yes my vpn router has a static ip assigned.
I just dont think the ISP router is passing the traffic back to the VPN router
I have 2 isps at my house and maybe I just pull the plug on this and remove the other isp router and replace it with this VPN router and see if I can go the other way with this stuff.
Possibly an issue with the DMZ configuration on the Calex. There is another unknown device between the Calex router and the internet. Cascading several devices, any one of which could prevent establishing a VPN connection.

So I gave up and started over. I put my r6900p in place of my fios router and restarted my VPN service.. I download the client connection from the router and put them on my PC and still no luck
Is there some place with actual instructions on how to make this work?
All it does is like before just sit with a connecting message.

You cannot test an Open VPN connection from a client device that is connected to the same network as the Open VPN server device. How does your test PC (client) access the internet?
Repeat question: what is the brand name and model number of your ONT device connected to your fiber? Look on the label.
You might want to explore the Open VPN forums.

It is a r6900p
I am not on the same network.I have 2 ISPs at my house so I am connecting from the 2nd one.
I changed the network adapter which was names OpenVPN Tap-WIndows6 to NetGear-VPN which is about the only instruction I could find.
It was unclear if it was supposed to be called OpenVPN Netgear-VPN or just NetGear-VPN?

I do not have an R6900P. Attached is the graphic from the instructions from my R9000. It clearly shows renaming the network adapter to NETGEAR-VPN.

The folder C:\Program Files\openvpn\config\ should contain only the four configuration files generated by the router.
I have never used the VPN GUI to edit a configuration file. It could save the changes to some other folder. I have always used notepad after making sure I closed the client application.

A little more success..
I had to add a data-ciphers line instead of the cipher line
I had to start the gui as an administrator, and now I can get the gui to say its connected
Once connected the speed is so slow as to be almost unusable..
I ping something like www.espn.com and it takes 20-30 sec per hop..
I still dont see the outgoing public IP being changed yet.

Your VPN throughput capacity will be the lesser of your ISP upload/download capacity.
The CPU on your R6900P is not the most robust for this application.
Do you have any of the following features enabled?
Smart Connect, Dynamic QOS, Traffic Meter, or Access Control. If yes, they put additional load on your CPU and should be disabled.
Is IPv6 enabled? If your ISP supports it, it should be enabled.
What are your ISP connections to the internet? Fiber, cable broadband, satellite, DSL, or ?
