Hi all
the problem is at a Nighthawk RS200 - The configuration iwth my provider here in Luxembourg worked fine. VLAN TAG - is used here for orange.lu
now.... some fine tuning has been done and i clicked the restart button in the router dashboard.
NO WLAN anymore. On the router itself - all LED s are correct in white and showing activity. But on the dashboard the WIFI have a red indicator. several restarts were unsuccessful. no WLAN anymore. even a switch on/off was not helpful. A complete reset and reconfiguartion of the RS200 solved the issue.
Hardware/firmware info see underneath the screenshot
Hardware Version | RS200 |
Firmware Version | V1.0.1.60 |
GUI Language Version | V1.0.0.449 |

The problem seems to have been solved.
After a 2-hour phone call with the English-speaking support team, the problem disappeared (although this was probably a coincidence after a factory reset). The router probably assigned the IPs randomly so that there was no longer a conflict. As I have now been able to find out, it was most likely an IP conflict in the WLAN as both static and dynamic IPs are assigned in my network. However, the DHCP assignment referred to the entire address range. This most likely led to the said conflict - which then “deactivated” the WLAN - this also happened to me with competitor products. Furthermore, there was another 2 router in the network which was also configured as a router instead of an AP - but with DHCP..... switched off.

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
Try a factory reset from the RS web page:
https://kb.netgear.com/24233/How-do-I-erase-the-configuration-settings-on-my-Nighthawk-router
See if the default wifi is seen and appears on a phone or pad.
Let us know if you don't see anything.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
The question is NOT the internet connection. this works fine. Also the accessibility to the router via LAN is excellent.
the problem is that after a reboot, the WIFI connection doesn't boot properly........and i cannot see the WIFI anymore.
A restart and also a 30 30 30 restart doesn't provide remedy.
I've to do a factory reset in order to see the WIFI again.
The firmware seems to be buggy

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
Nobody is blaming the Internet connection, however we would like to know what the RS router IS connected too. Some ISP modems or ONTs already have a built in router and Wi-Fi. Helps us to know this. Why we ask as it can cause problems with external connected routers such as the RS.
If the 30-30-30 reset or normal reset doesn't work, then possible the RS unit was faulty from the beginning and needs to be replaced.

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
The router is the only item which is transmitting on the channel used. in my cave where the FO Cable arrives I've a mediaconverter in order to convert the signal from FO to Ethernet.
But this box is only a converter (ONT Box from ZTE).
For the Router the ISP provides (for rent) a so called LIVE box which works as a router.
The router itself doesn't use username and password (no PPOE) i've to setup VLAN ID35
By the Way my box is an RS200 but i cannot select this one here - so i selected the RS300

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
Does the ISP require the Live Box router to be connected to the Converter?
You don't have to input a model to post here.
If a reset and setup from scratch doesn't resolve this, the RS maybe bad and needs to be replaced.

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
Yes - the ONT itself cannot do anything.
the "Livebox" is nessary and acts a Wifi Router
but i preferred the NETGear Router because of the much more powerful WLAN.
I've Ethernet in my whole house and preferred not to have more holes to avoid a LAN drop in my Living room

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
Your ISP router already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.

Re: Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok
Hi Jason
talked yesterday night 2 hrs to the support.
we did several tests.at the end the wifi worked after a reboot
but we don't know exactly why.....Questions:
0.1) Which Firmware do you use?
1) do you have Wifi Extenders in use - which are directly connected to your RS200?
2) If yes, are these Non-Netgear extenders?
3) do you use DHCP?
4) do you use DHCP and static addresses in the same range?
please let me know i might be able to help you
Regards

Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
