RS300, Getting packet burst and latency variation more often compare to my old XR500 router
Not sure what's going on but recently I purchased the RS300 and everything seems fine from download speed and upload, certainly getting more compared to my old XR500 router. However, when I am playing CoD Bo6 the packet burst seems to keep happening more and sometimes the latency variation shows up as well. This has never happened with my XR500 router. I checked to see if RS300 has QoS but I couldn't find it. Is there a way to fix this? Should I call my ISP provider or upgrade my modem (I have been using the Cable modem CM1000 for a while now) ? Everything is up to date, and I am not sure if it has to do with channels or the mode such as up to 2.9Gbps, I'm not very tech-savvy. It could be cause I'm using wireless, but never had this issue with my old router.
Please let me know what I should do, thanks!
(Model: RS300, Firmware: V1.0.1.60)
(Internet speed: 1000 download, 40 upload)

Re: RS300, Getting packet burst and latency variation more often compare to my old XR500 router
Where do you see this packet burst?
What happens if you connect your gaming device directly to the back of the CM1000 modem, same then happen or no?
The RS doesn't have a user configurable QoS, it's mostly automatic.
Lets check the CM modems signals and event logs to make sure they are ok.
Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status and event log page.

Re: RS300, Getting packet burst and latency variation more often compare to my old XR500 router
I mostly see packet bursts in-game, such as in Call of Duty Bo6. It has a built-in interface showing a logo if it's packet burst, latency variation, etc. Connecting to the modem does the same.
Oh I see, will QoS be brought back for the RS300 even if it has an automatic one?
I tried entering and clicking on the URL link but it's just saying the site can't be reached.

The links give how to get to the modems web page and find the modems web page data there.
CM modems web page can be and should be found at 192.168.100.1 with any browser.

Need the data from the CABLE CONNECTIONS section of the modem, Theres a page that looks some like the event logs. Lots of data on that page.
Any Criticals, Errors or Warnings seen in the event logs needs to be reviewed and resolved by the ISP. Indicates a signal issue on the ISP line up to the modem.

Re: RS300, Getting packet burst and latency variation more often compare to my old XR500 router
OK that looks good. Power levels are good and only some minor correctables which is only a couple of channels. Nothing major.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

Check to see if direct connection happens with the game device directly connected to the modem.

Re: RS300, Getting packet burst and latency variation more often compare to my old XR500 router
Hi there, here's an update after 2 weeks. I called Spectrum and they checked their end to see about my modem but they said everything looks good and there weren't any issues but they still suggested sending out a technician. The technician came in and said there was loose cable and removed the splitter. From that day, I was still experiencing issues but it was less than before. They also said they couldn't check the event log since it was a third-party device, so they couldn't check any further.
I still see critical, warnings, and notices in the event log from the modem.
Here's an updated log on the upstream and downstream.
