Re: Can't Access Router With IP Or Routerlogin.com With Ethernet BE9200
I am having the exact same problem with a brand new RS500 (BE12000).
First symptom is that browsing the web fails because the router doesn't respond to DNS requests. I too have had to hardcode the DNS servers instead of relying on the routers "DNS Proxy". It makes no difference which web browser is used. In fact, if I open a cmd prompt and do a "nslookup www.netgear.com" the request just times out and fails.
And as you've found out, the routers web interface also becomes unusable.
And after some unknown event (or amount of time), everything starts working as it should. The "log" under Advanced/Administration doesn't show anything unusual.
I've opened a case with Netgear. We'll see where that goes.

Turning off "Protection Engine" (Advanced/Security/Protection Engine) solves all of these problems.

Re: NETGEAR RS200 - NETGEAR PROTECTION ENGINE authentication problems
I have two Dell pcs that are getting blocked when Protection Engine is on. And there is no record of the problem other than DNS lookups failing and getting connection refused when attempting to reach the routers (admin) web interface.
Can you please elaborate on what sort of "malicious" behavior causes the router to block access?
Without some sort of logging, how are we supposed to know what the "malicious" behavior is? Browsing the web or download email isnt on its own malicious.

Re: NETGEAR RS200 - NETGEAR PROTECTION ENGINE authentication problems
We've pushed the new Protection Engine v1.0.0.2112 to the field to address the DNS issue. If you still have problem accessing the internet, please check your Protection Engine version and let me know.
It only addresses the DNS issue, access to the Router's Web GUI will still get blocked for malicious devices. We still work to see if we can some more malicious device info to the Web GUI.
Hi @pkaytes, I will send you a PM to see if we can find out what the detected malicious activities are in your case. Thanks.
