RBR40 Error while checking firmware

After updating my Netgear Orbi RBR40, with satellite model RBW30, to the new firmware, the Netgear app now times out while checking for new firmware. I'm not sure, but it seems there's an issue with the satellite firmware update. If I log in to the router via my web browser, I can see the current firmware listed for the router and both satellites. Router says "firmware is the most current"or something to that effect. However, the satellites continually try to download a firmware update, and the download fails. I manually installed version V2.6.2.6_1.0.16. Anyone else having this issue and, if yes, have you been able to resolve it and, if yes, how? I have restored the router and both satellites to factory defaults and set up the network again. Thank you for any assistance!

Re: RBR40 Error while checking firmware

I've seen a lot of reports with the app lately. I'll actually see about moving this topic over to the app forum. That way they guys that monitor the apps, see the reports of issues.

Hi Neriko1,

I understand that you are having issues with the Orbi App timing out while checking for new firmware. Please ensure that you are using the newly released updated Orbi App.

If you are unsure of your app version please navigate your App store (iPhone) or Google Play store (Andriod) and then search for the Orbi App. If the Orbi app is not up-to-date you will see an upgrade option for the Orbi App.

Please inform us if you experience any issues with the updated application!

Best,

Kevin

Re: RBR40 Error while checking firmware

Hello Kevin

On the orbi app , I keep getting an error saying"There was a problem checking firmware update". I decided to try and update manually on my PC from netgear website. When I downloaded the relevant rbr40 files (version 2.7.4.24) and tried to unpack the zip files, I get a message saying "The disc image file is corrupted". Clearly the software is faulty and needs to be fixed ASAP!

Regards Roland
