Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50

Its been about 2 years at least and I can't delete a device. I've looked and looked for a way to delete this and can't find a thing, which is why I'm here.
Either I'm just blind as a bat or Netgear forgot to add this would be nice feature. I'm using a Firefox browser and the Orbi RBR50 has Router Firmware Version V2.7.4.24.
Other than just doing a factory reset and having to reconfigure everything, does anyone know about to delete devices instead of just blocking them. I'm sick of seeing this device and its the only one I've ever blocked.
Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

It's just my opinion, but I think what you want cannot be done. This device knows the WiFi password. My guess is that the WiFi handshake takes place at such a low level in the networking stack that the connection cannot be prevented. All the router an do is note, "If a Blocked device connects, I'm not going to pass any data to/from it."

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
On the Orbi web interface, Advanced Tab, Security Menu... Access Control, there are three tables running down the page:
- First is a table listing every device that is currently connected to the system. These cannot be deleted (duh - because they are connected).
- Second is a table of Allowed devices which are not currently connected. Orbi maintains this information in case a device should reappear in the future.
- Third is a table of Blocked devices which are not currently connected. (Kept for the same reason. If it ever shows up again, Orbi will know not to allow it.)
Did you scroll down all the way to the third table?

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I've tried this before but the issue is this device is showing up in the Duh because its connected box.
One of the reasons I have this device blocked is because I have no clue what it is. I have roughly 25 devices connected. It shows about 10 devices in the next box, Devices allowed but aren't connected.
The third box has 2 devices in there and both of those do not share the same mac address as the one I'm talking about in the 1st box.
I know you label that as the "Duh because its connected" but how/why can't I remove a connected device. Better yet why can't I move that device after I blocked it and I'm the system Admin.
So I guess now is I need to know if there is a way to move this "blocked" device into another box so I can delete it.
Thank you again for your help.

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
Once the device is no longer connected to the Orbi system, it can be deleted from the table of Blocked Devices that are not Connected. Thus, the task is to identify the device and remove it from the system.
One tool is to enter the MAC address into one of the web engines that track which MAC addresses are assigned to specific manufacturers, such as https://maclookup.app
If this turns up a "hit", then at least the general type of device might be known.
On the other hand, if it comes up "nobody", then this might be an iPhone, iPad, Android, or other device that has been set to generate a random MAC address. (Not something that would be expected for run-of-the-mill WiFi devices.)
Another tool is to identify all the device that this cannot be, because they appear on the list of Attached Devices with MAC addresses that do not match and we know what they are.
Another tactic might be to ask, "what is in the house that could be connected to the network and doesn't have internet, but we are not aware that it doesn't?" Maybe a DVD player that we haven't tried to use for months?
The one sure fire method to get rid of this device is more trouble than it is worth: change the WiFi password.
This means that you have to go to every WiFi device and reconfigure it to use the network. OMG. This could take hours!!! (In my case, I'd have to climb ladders to reach some devices to reset them!) This is why I have kept the same WiFi password for almost 20 years!

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
Its a Samsung device. I did have a Bluray player crap out on me but its been turned off and for a very long time. I live in an apartment and I did set up my guest network so a neighbor could use for a few months.
I guess I'll just reset it back to factory and set up everything again. This is very frustrating. I'm retired from over 20 years in IT and not being able to remove a device from my personal network is mind boggling. I'm so glad AD, DHCP and DNS we're never set up like this.
I do appreciate you time/help. Thank you again.

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
Might be less work to ask the neighbor to use his own WiFi? Or, change only the Guest WiFi password?
(The mysterious device does show as connected to the Guest WiFi, correct?)

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
wait... wait.... if this device has been Blocked, then it should not have internet access. If it is a Samsung phone or tablet, surely the person using it would notice that it doesn't work???

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
I disabled the guest account around 2-3 years ago. We had a disagreement so I ended up disabling the account. Still kind of blows my mind that I just can't remove this device on my end.
This person has since tried to connect to other networks in the building so I have no clue if they have connected to another network, well I guess if they did it wouldn't or shouldn't show up on my list.

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
I haven't done anything yet. I'm praying there is something I'm missing so I don't have to reconnect everything. I have gone over the web page looking for any kind of remove or delete option. I have looked in basic and advanced for anything. I do really hope I'm just missing it somewhere.

Re: Unable to delete devices, Orbi RBR50
I heard ya. I do really appreciate your time and help.
I would hope that Netgear would add this option. Being able to clean up and remove devices would be a nice thing to have.
God bless and have a great day 🙂
