Will upgrading my modem improve performance?
I recently upgraded my Xfinity to 1.4GB and got an Orbi. Seeing around 700mb over wifi and 950mb via ethernet speedtest from Orbi App.
My current modem that's two years old (Netgear CM1000) and supports up to 1GB. Would getting a CM1200 (up to 2gigs) actually make a difference here for my speed?

Re: Will upgrading my modem improve performance?
What orbi do you have?
That's the key. Its pointless to upgrade the modem if you're router doesn't have multigigabit speeds.
You won't really see any speed difference from 1 to 1.4gig. Most servers aren't going to saturate a gigabit connection. Its really only when speedtesting that you can see a difference.

You won't see more than 700 Mbps with most wifi clients.
And 950 Mbps is pretty well the most you will get out of any router with WAN and LAN ports that are rated at 1000 Mbps.
As @plemans says, the modem is just the start. If that delivers just 1000 Mbps, it won't give you more than that on the network.
