New - SXK80 Series Firmware Version v4.0.0.118 Released

New Features: 03/03/2022

  • Supports SXK30 and SXK80 compatibility, allowing you to set up an Orbi Pro WiFi mesh system using a combination of these devices. The SXS30 and SXS80 satellites can sync to either the SXR80 or SXR30 router, and mesh with each other.
  • Supports WiFi scheduling.


Bug Fixes:

  • Fixes guest portal web page does not display with IOS devices.
  • Fixes multiple backhaul connectivity issues when there are 4+ satellites.
  • Fixes a NAT loopback issue if clients connect to the satellite.
  • Improves system stability.


Security Fixes:

  • Fixes security vulnerabilities.

Known Issues:

  • After updating the router firmware, existing clients can be steered to the router because the wireless readiness in the router is faster than the wireless readiness in the satellite.
    Workaround: Connected clients might notice slower throughput or a weaker signal, which resolves when the user roams or reconnects. 
  • WPA3-Enterprise might not work with iPhone 11 (supports 802.11ax) and above on iOS 14 and above.
    Workaround: Do not use WPA3-Enterprise.
  • The device UI can be accessed via the default VLAN network only.
    Workaround: Connect to a WiFi network that uses the default VLAN profile when you want to access the device UI.
  • When the SXR80 router is connected to multiple SXS30 and SXS80 satellites, it is possible that the SXS30 satellite cannot ping the SXR80 router and the bar LED lights magenta. However, clients can still access the SXS30 satellite and the Internet.
    Workaround: Reboot the SXS30 satellite and the SXR80 router.
  • When the SXR80 router is connected to multiple SXS30 and SXS80 satellites, wireless clients that connect to wireless network 3 with VLAN enabled cannot access the Internet.
    Workaround: Reload the wireless configuration or disable the VLAN feature on wireless network 3.

Firmware Update Instructions:

If the Orbi Pro devices are connected to the Insight cloud, perform firmware updates automatically through the firmware schedule policy, or manually perform a firmware update using the Insight app or device UI.

NOTE: We highly recommend updating the SXS80 satellite firmware first and then updating the SXR80 router firmware. 

After the FW files are loaded and the RBS and RBR are ready, power OFF the RBS and RBR for 2 minutes then back ON.

Unplug the power adapters from the power wall outlet.

Enable Fast Roaming option is back! Heart


Feels like a solid update so far, with general improvements across the board. For example, I was unable to see the open uPNP ports previously, now I can.


Meaningful improvements for everyone, such as, instead of "Insight: On/ Off" status, there is now a Management Mode status that says "Local web browser" or "Insight". If it says Insight, you can click it to visit the Insight portal directly. Much better, clearer!

Where is "Management Mode" located?

It is located in the Router Information box under Advanced Home.
