Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
The Orbi Pro Mini Satellite is wired via Ethernet + switch to the same network as the Router (in Access Point Mode).
But in the web interphase under Attached Devices the satellite appears under "Wireless Devices" with SSID (blank) 5G. Should it not appear under wired because it is using an Ethernet backhaul or do I need to do set it up to create an ethernet backhaul?

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
You put both are wired to a switch.
Is it going
gateway---->SRR wan port--->lan port from SRR--->Switch--->Satellites
I see a lot time where people just connect the SRR to the switch with its wan port and then the satellites.
It needs to have the SRR wired to the gateway with the wan port and then the srr going to the switch via lan port

No, it is in Access Point Mode so:
Router <---->Smart Switch <----->Satellite
<------>SXR30

Thats why you're running into issues with that setup.
Its not wired properly.

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
Hi,
Why is it not wired properly? Is there no wired backhaul in AP mode? My setup is similar to the last illustration in the link you provided, except the ethernet port in the SXR30 is in the WAN port (which is what the documentation says for AP mode)

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
You for sure can use a wired backhaul.
But your satellites need to be connected to the lan port on the SXR. Not the wan port.
So if you're using a switch, it needs to go gateway----->SXR wan port---->lan port from router to switch----->satellites
You can't just connect the router to the switch using its wan port. Well, you can but then you get what issue you're having.

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
Hi thanks for the reply. Sorry I don't understand what you are saying. Are you saying that Orbi Pro Mini as an Access Point has to be connected to the modem?
"gateway----->SXR wan port---->lan port from router to switch----->satellites"
Should it not be:
Gateway---->Router---->SXR (wan port)---SXR(LAN port)--->Switch----satellites?

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
this option:
Gateway---->Router---->SXR (wan port)---SXR(LAN port)--->Switch----satellites?
the satellites must be connected to the SXR's lan port if hardwired in.

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
I see. Is there any reason why this won't work?
Gateway---->Router----Switch--->SXR (wan port)---SXR(LAN port)
--->----satellites?
Isn't it in essence the same physical connection as:
Gateway---->Router---->SXR (wan port)---SXR(LAN port)--->Switch----satellites?

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
If 2 routers (SXR30) are connected, both need to be in "router" mode. If one of them is AP mode, it would have some problems.

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
Sorry there is just one SXR (in AP mode) and a Satellite. I just separated the ports for clarity.
So it should be:
Gateway---->Router---->(wan port)-SXR -(LAN port)--->Switch----satellites?
Although I tried with LAN port in SXR as well but same results.

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
You can connect the satellites to the lans port on the SXR.
That'll work the same as connecting the switch to its lan ports and then the satellites to the switch.
You just can't have the SXR only connected via wan port and the satellites hardwired in through the wan port.

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
So having cleared that, my question still isn't answered. My Satellite won't appear in Wired Devices even if connected to the LAN (or WAN) port of the main unit (in AP mode) through a switch.

What switch is it?
Is it a managed switch?

Re: Orbi Pro Mini includes Satellite as Attached Device even if wired to router
Most smart switches don't cause issues but when they do it tends be the smart features of the switch and the pro system not being set right. Either vlans or the other features of the switch not matching the orbi's.
I'm not an expert on managed switches or the pro features of the orbi. So not much help there.
