Small Gated Community - Would Obi work to connect all the villas?

Kia ora,

Looking for some advice on connecting our whole complex to the same network with Mesh.

• No separate passwords or usernames are needed.
• Coverage through-out the entire complex, including the pool needed.
• No cables are allowed to be run between villas - must be wireless
• We have fibre, guarenteed 100Mbps, with uncapped data.

I was thinking about 1 AC300 per villa, with 1 Orbi Outdoor Universal Satellite unit at the pool area.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

It works AND I have 8 satellites working!!!!

How many villa's/sized area are you trying to cover? I've seen the pro version with up to 5 satellites working. Not sure how large of an area and villa's you're trying to cover. Might have to move out of the consumer market and into the business class equipment. Or figure out a way to run the cabling.

Hate to be a pessimist but i don't think your going to get that working all wireless. That's too much distance. You'll need some type of ethernet or coaxial backhaul.

Glad to hear it works. Were you able to get it done wirelessly or did you figure out a wired backhaul? I've seen the consumer used with 6 devices but never 8. I'm curious what speeds you're getting in each villa in comparison with what you pay?

All wirelessly! We pay $800NZ a month for our fibre plan.

When we were full, the speeds in the villas were around 52.4 download and 63.7 upload.

Today, we are almost empty - 92.6 download and 96.4 upload.

Seriously happy with how it is ticking along!

Thats pretty impressive with covering that much area. It'd be interesting to play with to see speeds and latency at each point with that many satellites covering.  

Again, good work getting it going. I guess 8 is now the most I've read working together!

Oh, I should say I ended up using;

• 1 x SRR60 Routr,
• 1x SRS60 Satellite and
• 7 x SRC60 Ceiling Satelittes.
