Firmware v4 Breaks AP mode on the ORBI RBK750 (Satellites RBS's will NOT connect via wifi to RBR)

Recent firmware releases have bricked the RBK753 set wrt wifi connection between RBR and RBS.

Repro:

  1. Configure RBR750 in router mode
  2. Connect to satellites using wifi (standard procedure), This works fine.
  3. Update to latest firmware 4.6.5.14
  4. While connected wirelessly to satellites login to Router and change to AP mode.
  5. Move wired network cable from INTERNET port to any of the other three plugs (Ethernet)
  6. Wait for router to come back up.
  7. Both satellites will NEVER connect wirelessly Indicators remain Purple and Router "connected devices" page shows the satellites as "Disconnected"

I have repro'd this on three separate RBK sets. The existing wired network is configured with an internet gateway/dhcp server and routing. I just need the RBK set to extened the existing network and services via wireless. I do NOT want the RBK to serve up IP addresses or provide any specific routing.

As an aside I can get the Satellites to connect to the Router if I connect them using hard wired connection. However that is useless to me as my intent was to avoid having to run wire where I had my satellites. This functionality worked perfectly for V3 of the firmware, but as soon as the V4 firmware started to get pushed the sattelites would NOT connect with the router (show purple light indicator).

Note the "bricking" is wholly wrt running in AP mode. All three of my rbk sets run ok (though less relaibly since the V4 catastrophy), when configured in ROUTER mode. This issue is WHOLLY related to making them run in AP mode.

Well mines working in AP Mode. WAN port connected from RBR AP Mode to LAN port on CAX80 in router mode. RBS wirelessly synced to RBR in AP mode:

@FURRYe38 THANK U, this is helpful. Thank you for sharing DETAILS re your config. I wonder if there's something specifig about the router settings that you can on your CAX80 that I might emulate (ala local Ip range is 192.168.x.x, My local dhcp range is 10.0.0.x.

This is GREAT infor to see and gives me some hope. Couple questions

1.Can you tell me what firmware version you're running?
2. Was your RBR "paired with the RBS pre ap mode and did you have to re-pair or did they just stay connected when you made the switch?

What is the brand and model# of your host router thats using 10.0.0.1? One thing I did was set a static IP address ON the RBR for AP mode. I always use this method rather than the Dynamic. So I always know the IP address of the RBR in AP mode to connect to it's web page and the address doesn't change unless I change it.

1.Can you tell me what firmware version you're running? Version is captired in the photos I posted as proof.
2. Was your RBR "paired with the RBS pre ap mode and did you have to re-pair or did they just stay connected when you made the switch? I had been using the RBR in router mode a couple of months back, RBS was connected then. I had recently changed to AP mode and was testing the system out with a non NG router. I then had turned the Orbi system off as I was trying to test the CAX80 in router mode to confirm some issues seein by others on the CAX in past week or so. So Orbi system sat OFF for about week or so. I got word today that you were having problems so turned mine ON, it was already in AP mode, I had to change the IP address on the RBR to something different to avoid conflict with a different device that was already using a specific IP address was all I did. When I applied the change, I connected the lan cable to the WAN port on the RBR in AP mode from to a Gb switch thats connected to the CAX lan port. RBR came online. While the RBR rebooted, I went and turned ON the RBS and waited. Seem to take about a good 5 minutes however it finally connected. Front LED kept pulsating WHITE with in the 5 minutes. Looked at the RBR status page and said it was connected however out of sync was the status. I gave it another minute then refreshed the page and finally status turned GOOD. Front LED on RBS turned OFF and as I'm typing this its still OFF. I've got my iphone connected to it and haven't seen any issues so far.
