Guest Network IP range

Hi all,

So, my core network IP range is 192.168.1.1 - .244. Guest network used to apply 192.168.2.1 onwards, but I've noticed that it's now applying a 10.0.1.. range to devices connecting to the GN.

Whilst it's not doing any harm being in a different range, but, I'm curious how I might be able to change things back? I've tried rebooting - am loath to do a factory reset..but may have to.

Any thoughts other than the factory reset would be appreciated.

TIA

Re: Guest Network IP range

What model Orbi do you have?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

Ya GN should be at 192.168.2.x. Odd that it changed. You sure it changed?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Re: Guest Network IP range

Minor details missed out..soz

RBK853, running V4.6.14.3_2.3.12

Connected to Sagemcom F3896LG-VMB

Is defo reporting a different IP range for GN - can test at will connecting my phone to the GN.

I have a horrible feeling I'm going to have to factory reset..

Re: Guest Network IP range

What mode is your modem working in?

That's a modem gateway with built in router and wifi already. Since the GN is tied to the WAN port, seems that the modem is in router mode and causing the GN to change it's IP address range. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: Guest Network IP range

Hmm, thanks. The Sagemcom is in router mode, with Orbi in the DMZ (I have one IoT device connected to the wifi on it).

I'll have to have a play around tomorrow when the place if free of people that will complain if t'internet is up and down like a yo-yo - will change back to modem mode for the Sagemcom and see if this encourages it back to the normal range.

Did wonder what would happen if I temporarily changed the Lan setting on the Orbi to disable then re-enable 'Use router as DHCP server' to see if this reset the assigned ranges.

Re: Guest Network IP range

K, that is probably the reason.
If 10.s is working then you could keep it.

If you go back to modem mode, which would be preferred, Try powering off the RBR then back ON and see if the GN range changes back to 192, if not, a factory reset maybe needed.
