Internet and all connections goes out on my Orbi 850 system a couple of times a week.
Hi,
Lately I have had the Orbi router drop connections at least twice a week. Wifi, Ethernet and the web interface is inaccessible. The LED is pulsing purple. I have to pull the plug and do a hard restart to fix it. It always comes back up but a crash twice a week is too often. I have had Orbi systems for 5 years and never had anything like this happens. The modem functions just fine and I can connect to the Internet directly from the modem, so it's the Orbi router that malfunctions. I have not changed anything on the router for at least six months.
What could be wrong and what should I do about it?

Re: Internet and all connections goes out on my Orbi 850 system a couple of times a week.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

Re: Internet and all connections goes out on my Orbi 850 system a couple of times a week.
Hi,
Firmware is 4.6.9.11. The modem is Netgear CM2000. I have not changed anything in months but this started happening all of a sudden. And yes, I have factory reset both router and satellite. I have done all the restarts in sequence as recommended. It still cuts all connections every three days or so or twice a week.

What is the CAT# LAN cable between the CM modem and RBR?
Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status and event log page.

If you have done nothing to the Orbi system, may not be a Orbi issue persae...rather something at the ISP side maybe...

Can you first explain why I need to post information about the modem when the modem works just fine when I connect directly to it and also works when I hook my TP-Link backup router to it? I just do not get how the modem matters in this regard.

Re: Internet and all connections goes out on my Orbi 850 system a couple of times a week.
Can be anything, signal on the line is sub par or just enough degraded at a period of time that when the signal gets too bad, it causes the RBR to loose the connection with the modem and ISP services. There maybe bad cabling or bad connections that could be causing odd problems. So why we can you to post the CM modems status and event logs page. These have to be narrowed down as much as possible.
What is the CAT# LAN cable between the CM modem and RBR?
I have this same modem and have had my 8 series online with it before. The only items I saw when they were connected was on prior versons of FW, I saw these mysterious RBR reboots for unknown reasons. At that time I enabled email logging and that resolved the reboots. Since v.11 arrived I seen no more mysterious reboots after a factory reset and not enabling email logging.

Okay, I get it now. I will gather this information as soon as possible. May take a few days. Also, I also have had, and have, problems with IPv6. I lose the IP every time the router tries to renew. Maybe these things are connected?

Possible, IPv6 hasn't been addressed fully by NG.
Try this, disable IPv6 on the RBR and see if the problem continues or not.

IPv6 has been disabled for months since it doesn't work. But I thought that if there's something going on on the modem or Xfinity feed it may cause the IPv6 I have had.

We don't have access to that log. Also we need the cable connections status page as well please.

You can't see the text file? I'm not allowed to upload a text file. I am not able to send these things. They are web pages with scrolling. How am I going to get that up here?

Re: Internet and all connections goes out on my Orbi 850 system a couple of times a week.
You have some correct and UN-Correctables however not too bad. They should be mostly zeros though.
The ISP needs to review the Criticals and Errors and resolve them.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
