For users having problems with there Orbi units after updating to v.31, We recommend that if you have done most troubleshooting efforts to clear the issues seen after loading v.31 and still experience problems, you'll need to downgrade back to v.21 version. RBS first then RBR lastly. It's recommended after downgrading, to perform a Factory Reset and setup from scratch to ensure there no lingering FW from v.31 on the system. Also disable the Auto Update feature on the RBRs web page soon after to avoid the system re-updating back to v.31.
We have made NG aware of the issues with v.31 and have ask them to consider pulling back FW v.31 for all Orbi AX and AXE systems.
Thank you. - Retired_MemberJun 13, 2024

Thank you.Can you tell me what the issues with this firmware are? In this thread no problems have been reported. I also haven't noticed anything so far, but maybe I am missing something? Thanks!

It appears this FW upgrade issue has been going on for several months. As I write this its June 13 2024. Is there any indication this will be settled by releasing an update that doesn't cause us RBR850's problems?. I am not interested in spending several hours upgrading then down grading then doing a Factory Reset then..... I actually don't know what to do after that...
Is netgear just bricking us so we upgrade? Please advise. Thanks

The 7.2.6.31 version finally showed up as an update in the interface, so I am comfortable hitting the button now. It seems the success rate appears higher than normal based on the feedback in this thread, so I am also curious what these show-stopping issues are.

How did it go for you?

So I woke up feeling a bit frisky (and probably still drunk) and decided to hit the "update all" button on my phone.
I sobered up quickly thinking that I once again had managed to brick an Orbi system, but back at my wired computer I determined that the router address was now 172.16.0.1. After a little fiddling I was back in the web interface, faced with a message that Netgear had changed my IP address to avoid conflict with my ISP. Great, thanks Netgear!
I quickly changed it back, only to discover that all my address reservations and device names had been hosed. Excellent. Now I now what I'll be doing all day today.
Other than that, the update seems fine.

So is the 172 address what your ISP modem is using? If so, the RBR should have changed to 10.x something. Shouldn't have changed to same IP address as the ISP modem.
What IP address did you change the RBR back to?
Just curious what brand and model is the ISP modem? If v.31 works for you, use it. Other users have posted having issues with it and we recommend reverting back to v.21 if you experience problems with v.31. v.21 is the most stable FW version.

Don't think I have had any issues with .31
What are the most common errors that some users experience?
- FURRYe38Aug 16, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Lots of issues seen across the board seen here in the community and on Reddit. NG has been made aware and they acknowledge and it's in there ball park.
Hopefully next FW update will be better.
For those that have working systems with v.31, keep it and use as is. If problems are encountered, consider reverting back to v.21.
Thank you.
