Orbi RBR 850 connected to Starlink - unable to login to and access Orbi router settings.
Hi there,
I've recently got Starlink and an Orbi RBR850 up and working - However I'm not sure I'm getting the speeds about the house that I should be considering I measure nothing below 150 Mbps - It's normally up about the 280 to 350Mbps on average. Some web pages etc are slow loading and apps such as Instagram (slower than 4G in the wild for instance) and I've been trying to access the Orbi router to have a fiddle and see whats going on.
However when I type in 192.168.1.1 - it slow loads until it times out or if I put it on a different browser I get taken to the Starlink homepage or if I use orbilogin.net I go to a loop of resetting my login password. I just can't seem to get to the Orbi router settings.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you overcome it?
Thanks so much for your time.

Re: Orbi RBR 850 connected to Starlink - unable to login to and access Orbi router settings.
When a device is connected to the Orbi, either with ethernet or WiFi, the Orbi router will appear as the "gateway" IP address.
This IP is affected by what ISP device the Orbi is connected to.
Is this a link to the Starlink that you have?
If so, it appears that Starlink provides a WiFi router as part of the "Kit". The Starlink router will assign a private IP address to the Orbi router.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network
The Orbi will then create a Local Area Network (LAN) with a different private IP space. So, 192.168.1.1 may or may not be the IP address of the Orbi router.
The way to determine the Orbi IP address is to look at the address information provided to a device on the Orbi LAN (connected either with ethernet cable or WiFi.) Each device will have:
- Assigned IP address
- Subnet Mask (which is always 255.255.255.0)
- Gateway IP address
- DNS IP address
The Gateway and DNS IP addresses are for the Orbi router.
Having two 'routers' is common, because most customers simply plug in their home WiFi system to the ISP system. In technical terms, this is known as a "Double NAT" (do an internet search on Double NAT). This can interfere with specific networking uses, including OpenVPN, forwarding ports, and certain internet gaming. If your usage happens to be affected by having two routers, there are several methods to deal with the problem. If you experience no issues, then eliminating the Double NAT is a choice.

Thanks so much Crimpon,
I'll try and work out the tech stuff you mentioned - looks like I've a bit more of the `learnin' ahead of me. But I get what you mean.
Cheers

Re: Orbi RBR 850 connected to Starlink - unable to login to and access Orbi router settings.
Looking for procedure to connect my Orbi wifi 6 RBR850 and RBS850 to my starlink router? I see this was discussed but no specific procedure defined. I also bought NETGEAR 8-Port PoE Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch (GS108PEv3) - Managed to connect the two routers. The pan is setup the RBR850 as in access point mode not router. That procedure listed below. Have tried this yet as I am waiting for cat adapter for the starlink router.
To set up your Orbi router as an access point:
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Internet port of your Orbi router to the LAN port of your existing router or gateway.
Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your Orbi network.
Enter orbilogin.com.
A login window displays.
Enter the admin user name and password.
The user name is admin and the password is the one that you created during set up. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The BASIC Home page displays.
Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Router / AP Mode.
The Router / AP Mode page displays.
Select the AP Mode radio button.
The page adjusts.
Select an IP Address setting:
Get dynamically from existing router. The other router on the network assigns an IP address to this router while this router is in AP mode.
Use fixed IP Address (not recommended). Use this setting to manually assign a specific IP address to this router while it is in AP mode. Using this option effectively requires advanced network experience.
You cannot use the Orbi app to manage your Orbi system when it is in AP mode.
