Orbi connection directly to FTTP ONT

After some discussion, have decided to drop the landline requirement.

This raises the possibility of connecting the Orbi 353 directly to the ONT and go with a FTTP supplier for 1Gb (or around). Are there issues with a direct connection? I appreciate the Openreach engineer will only connect it to the isp hub - I can then remove it if required. I guess ONT is a form of "modem" so a third party modem is not required.

Re: Orbi connection directly to FTTP ONT

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP ONT and router been performed?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Something to ask the ISP about to ensure that's supported. Ask about any ISP configurations that maybe needed.

@FURRYe38

You mentioned turn off modem and turn off modem. Which modem are you referring to please? I want to get rid of the sky mode/router and use the Orbi only.

Apologies! Just getting used to accepting the ONT as a "modem"!

NO worries, I should have specified ONT first thing. 🤓
