RBK753S - one computer keeps losing internet connection
I just installed an Orbi router with two satellites yesterday. The router is connected directly to the modem and a gigabyte switch. The two satellites are connected to the switch via an ethernet cable. The setup was easy and all devis (around 35) quickly connected to the network. About 15 of the devices are hard wired and the rest are all on wifi.
One of my computers, which is hard wired through a LAN port to the switch, will randomly lose the internet connection. The only way I have been able to resolve it is to restart the computer. All other devices on the network still have a connection and the modem is showing a connection to the internet. This has never happened before, but happened around 4 times since installing the Orbi 24 hours ago.
When this happens, I am still connected to the internal network, I just seem to lose the internet connection which is very strange. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to resolve this?

Re: RBK753S - one computer keeps losing internet connection
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
How is the modem, switch and RBR all connected? ISP Modem>RBR>Ethernet switch?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ethernet switch in the configuration?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Re: RBK753S - one computer keeps losing internet connection
To clarify, this was an issue with a hard wired connection, not wifi, so channel selection was not part of the issue.
With that said, I believe I resolved my issue. With it only happening on one specific device/computer, I suspected it had to do with that computer. I believe I have isolated the issue to my VPN connection which is running directly on this device. After the computer sleeps and is powered back on, the internet connection is not automatically re-established for some reason. The VPN will reconnect, but I can't access the internet. If I disconnect from VPN and then reconnect, the issue is resolved. I am going to find out if there is a configuration setting somewhere that would help resolve this.
If I find that this wasn't the problem, I will update this thread, but as of right now, I do not believe this is an Orbi issue.
thanks for the suggestions,
Nick

Re: RBK753S - one computer keeps losing internet connection
Ok, great you were able to narrow farther down to the problem. Hope you find out what is causing it.
Good Luck.
