Hi, I have an RBR350 with two satelites. All has been working well, connected to the internet via a Huawei B818-263 fixed wireless modem on an Optus (australia) connection.
With no apparent change from our end (and for the last week) the orbi has been unable to connect to the internet - and it displays a purple LED light.
I've tried :
- rebooting both the Modem and the Orbi router
- turning off and on, the above
- factory resetting each of the orbi devices and re-setting up
- since it won't connect to the internet, I can't check for updates online, but I've done so manually - it appears to have the latest 4.4.1.29 firmware update
- plugged in a PC into the modem, establishing the gateway IP (192.168.8.1) - and the orbi also displays this same gateway IP
Any ideas please? I've spent 2 days scrolling the internet for solutions - any help would be most appreciated.

That Huawei looks like a modem/router with its own wifi. If so, you are piling router on router.
Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with addresses on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect traffic to addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.
What is Double NAT? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Unless you have specific reasons for using two routers – to create two separate networks for example – it is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point (AP) with a wired connection to the main router. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit.

But that has its own drawbacks:

Re: RBR350 not connecting to internet
Thanks for that - strange that it worked for a while and now doesn't.
I've added the orbi mesh to extend the range.
I'll go down that route and report back if it fixes it.

Re: RBR350 not connecting to internet
Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
