RBR760 Setup, Latest firmware
I’m working on a performance issue with this setup with 4 satellites, armor and parent control in the mix. Materialized in recent weeks, but might have been present at times in the past. System is still usable but…I know a lot of the standard things to do I think I’ve pretty much done them except for the wipe and start afresh. In short, if I connect to my Xfinity router I get 500mb download consistently, toggle off Xfinity to bridge mode, I get 90mb on orbi router, tested using Speedtest phone app, in the room with the two ‘routers’ removing satellite variable…called support and the support tech says all is good in the system but too many devices are connected, net stat shows 71 established, 22 time wait, 4 sync sent, 7 fin wait…lots of Internet enabled devices that usage is low from a user perspective, garden lights and such like etc
Support explains that I have no network security, and we should wipe the system, he can do it, and he can install the network security too for a price tag of 299 dollars as my warranty is out
Anyone know what is this network security to which he was referring? Couldn’t get a crisp answer on the call
I might wipe the system and start afresh after my sons finals or toggle the whole Orbi setup to being an Access Point(s) to the Xfinity
Thanks

Re: RBR760 Setup, Latest firmware
Can you please report the phone number used to contact "support"?
Netgear offers residential customers several levels of support via a subsidiary called Gear Head (get the pun?)
Scroll down this web page: https://www.netgear.com/support/ to reach a link to this site:
https://www.netgear.com/home/services/gearhead/
Scroll down the page to see that Gear Head offers three plans:
Notice that none of these plans costs $299.

Back to the "problem"

The Orbi router itself contains a version of Ookla Speed Test. What does the router itself report for the connection?
Does this reported speed vary depending on whether the Xfinity router is in its normal (router) mode or in bridge mode?
A speed of 90Mbps is a highly suspicious number. When an Ethernet connection auto negotiates to 100Mbps/Full Duplex, the greatest speed that can be measured is slightly under 100Mbps because of the tiny overhead of Ethernet technology. It is physically impossible to measure a speed higher than "almost 100". For example, if the phone had reported 101Mbps, then we know the link between router and Xfinity must be greater than 100Mbps/Full.
(Ethernet speed negotiation is a complicated topic. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonegotiation
The speed that Xfinity and Orbi have negotiated is displayed on the Orbi web interface, Advanced Tab home page when you click the Show Statistics box. If that box shows the WAN port to be 100Mbps/Full, then this is the problem.
The most common cause is "something is wrong" with the cable path between the Xfinity and Orbi. Maybe one of the RJ45 plug tiny little "snap" thingies worked loose. The easiest test is to replace the cable and look closely at the RJ45 jacks to see that those 8 tiny gold wires appear to be lined up correctly.

The only Network security that Netgear offers is Armor, which appears to be already present, i.e.
"setup with 4 satellites, armor and parent control in the mix."
