RBR850 can't handle Steam game RUST browing servers?

Hi, my son plays the Steam game called Rust, and when that game starts browsing servers, it close to kills the network for 2-5 minuttes. When I say kill, then there's still ethernet connections and wifi etc., but the internet connection is stalled, probably due to the amount of incoming requests from the game checking servers status.
I've found other threads, where changes can be made to Steam it self, not to scan so many servers at once when browsing a server list, but can it be right? Here's an example:

When my son is at his mum with a more simple network (same ISP), but a router that cost nothing, then there isn't an issue. So I'm like, what the... I paid a lot for mine. 😬
So does anyone know about changes that can be done to the router itself or is it just maxed out by a game and a PC on the network, is that possible?

Assuming that the only application that causes this phenomenon is Rust, that is where I would start looking for solutions.
What happens when the suggested changes are made to the game settings?

What modem/gateway do you have?
what firmware is on the router?
Is the device connected hardwired or over wireless?

Firmware is: V4.6.14.3
PC's are connected using wired,
Uncertain about modem model, but it's an ICOTERA fiber box

I'd check on what fibre box that is. MIght be a gateway with its own router built in and cause a double nat

Yes so far only that application, so trying those Steam changes. Was just curious if others had same experience and maybe there was a solution on the router itself. It's a 1000mbit internet connection, so it's not traffic as such, but yes something that kind of DDOS the router on network and it's like stunned whilte it happens. 🙂

Any chance you have Armor or Smart Parental Controls enabled?

It's only that game on Steam that can cause it and it helps to lower the Steam settings.

RUST game:

When you want to find a server in that game, it spams the router, pinging servers.

Is the gaming PC wired or wireless connected to the system?
Might try using the DMZ for the PC as a quick test to see if this problem still happens. Remove the configuration after testing.
Do you know if this game has a trial period. Something I could test as I have my 850 series online currently...

It's wired the PC to the router. I don't think I've seen RUST as a trial, but it might have some free play during weekend periods.
I haven't seen a DMZ option on my router? I'm actually a bit surprised about the more limited control compared to my old ASUS router.

DMZ is on the RBRs web page under Advanced Tab/Setup/WAN Setup.

Re: RBR850 can't handle Steam game RUST browing servers?
Only solution I've fouind was to change overall Steam settings for "Server Browser Pings / Minute":

As it's the only Steam, game I've seen that does it.
