RBR850 w/3. Satellites not working properly
Using Orbi at home for almost a year now. This is the third mesh system I installed in this home and the first that works as close to optimal as one can hope.
1) after installing the router and three satellites and finding the optimal location for each (making sure each satellite connects to the router and are not “chained”) I started connecting my devices.
I quickly noticed that there is no way to control the load balancing and in some cases devices connect to a further unit with no reason.
2) after connecting over 70 devices and renaming each in the iOS app so I can easily identify them I experienced a period of 3-4 months of relative bliss.
3) after an automatic update the app and web interface stopped showing my devices. While all Devi es still connect to the internet, the list on both app and web interfaces dwindled down to 12-17 devices. Restart the router, the devices and everything in between proved useless.
3) after reading posts online I reset the router and satellites back to factory settings. Once installed again, my devices are back but now simply going to enable remote access results in an error. “Some error occurred while enabling/disabling anywhere access”.
This is causing a lot of distress and mistrust in the system. Not sure what is causing the error or how to go about fixing it.
Thanks, Frustrated.

Re: RBR850 w/3. Satellites not working properly
Has a power off for 5 minutes then back ON with the ISP modem and Orbi system been performed since last update?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

You have to use Orbi app to enable anywhere access. Remote access is no longer seen on the RBRs web page.

Re: RBR850 w/3. Satellites not working properly
I rebooted the router (including my Fios Gigabit ISP) multiple times. Deleted and reinstalled the IOS app. Tried accessing from multiple devices (iPad/iPhone)
With no luck. The error (attached) shows up as soon as I click settings—>anywhere access.
Different error when clicking the router directly.

Re: RBR850 w/3. Satellites not working properly
Try a full power OFF of the system and ISP ONT for 5 minute. This means pull the power adapters from the wall sockets, wait, then plug back in.
Possible problem with the Orbi app, I would post about over in the Orbi app forum:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-App/bd-p/en-home-orbi-app
You could try a full on reset on the RBR and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. Once setup, log in to the RBR with the Orbi app and see if you can enable anywhere access.
or open a support ticket and talk to NG support about the app issue:
