RBRE960 will not work with Xfinity XCAM1 security camera

I had to change my Xfinity gateway into bridge mode to connect my Orbi RBRE960.  The Xfinity XCAM1 security cameras which had been connected to the Xfinity Gateway had to be switched to connect to my network on the Orbi RBRE960.  However, they do not connect.  Following the setup process for the camera, after selecting the Orbi network SSID and entering the password, I get a notice from the Orbi that a new device has connected but the camera never completes connecting and drops from the Orbi.   The camera control unit (which is also the power adapter) is about 15 feet from the RBRE960.  I also turned off both Orbi satellites in order to make sure it was not a mesh interference issue.  The Xfinity tech came to my house and also tried and failed.   Any ideas on how to make this work?  Should I just ditch Xfinity home security and get something else?

You are probably familiar with the Xfinity camera trouble shooting guide:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/camera-troubleshooting

This message appears to address the question:

https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/devices-and-equipment/can-i-add-my-xfinity-cameras-to-my-ow...

I followed the link in that post and did not find a clear answer. (what else is new?)

There does appear to be a strong possibility that these cameras work only with the Xfinity router.

p.s. While many Orbi users prefer placing their ISP device in bridge mode so that the Orbi router will not be subject to the dreaded "Double NAT" situation, the Double NAT affects specific applications.  Thousands of Orbi customers have simply connected their Orbi router to the ISP router and gone on with life.

Was there a specific reason for putting the Xfinity in bridge mode?

Crimp On,

Thanks for the reply.  I do really appreciate the time you took.

Yes, I am familiar with the Xfinity trouble shooting link you provided.  I worked with one of their techs via online chat for several hours.  Then finally had an Xfinity tech come out but to no avail.  The cameras are supposed to be able to connect to other non-Xfinity routers but in this case they did not.  I guess I'll look for some other camera solution.

I had some intermittent issues with the double NAT but could live with it but then my new Sony TV wouldn't work with the double NAT and I had to switch to bridge mode.  So, it goes...

Thanks again,

Mark
