Re: RBR750 mesh system constantly dropping Wifi

I had the same issue, I had to leave the unit unplugged for a couple hours and then factory reset.

Plugged them back in and set them up using the web based utility first. I have FiOS so my FiOS router uses 192.168.1.1, so the web base utility automatically changed my Orbi’s ip/access portal to 10.0.0.1 . Just an fyi. The Orbi iPhone app could not detect or set up my Internet settings, but for some reason the web based portal was able to detect and successfully set up Internet.

For me the disconnecting wifi problem kept happening because I would plug in a ethernet backhaul cable to the satellite after initial set up which would then make everything wonky, causing it to constantly disconnect the Wi-Fi signal to all my devices. If you’re going to use an ethernet back hall, make sure that it’s plugged in from the start!

The entire set up is slow, with lots of waiting screens, extremely long load times for the hardware, and super tricky. Honestly it’s a huge pain for such an expensive system. They need to figure this out because it’s really terrible.

A much better, fully functional and plug&play system
is AMPLIFI, which I was coming from but wanted to try something new with wifi6. Lesson learned!

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Its recommended to first set up the RBS and sync them wirelessly fully. Once fully since, then connect them via ethernet:

Also be sure to use good quality LAN cable. CAT6 is recommended.

It's recommneded to use a wired PC and web browser to setup the system.
