Use r9000 x10 as ap with rbk853

I want to buy the mesh system rbk853, but want to keep my plex and nas that's attached to my r9000. Would it be possible to have my r9000 still function as a wired ap and switch and keep that functionality?

The R9000 supports AP mode i believe. Review the user manual for this feature.

Re: Use r9000 x10 as ap with rbk853

Would I be better off using my r9000 as a router and having the orbi as an AP. Will I lose anything with the orbi? Any bottlenecks?

I have a ranch house and wifi is relatively good. Currently use a mix a Lan and wifi, but have alot of devices since my home is loaded with smart tech. I have an asus router in an outside room to try and push wifi to detached garage and ring and myq, but even that doesn't provide great strength. My house is 68 foot long with basement. Want to extend outside more as well. Looking for feedback rbk853 on ebay for 780.

Yes you can do that. Ive ran my Orbi AX system in both modes. AP mode when I wanna use something different in a host router.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

It's about 3000sq upstairs and basement combined.
I have a switch in basement currently, most hardwired down there. Hoping the bandwidth would reach out to my garage better than the asus I have as a ap. I would have hardwire from my router in center of house to the router of rbk and then have other satellite other side of house. Not sure if I would need one in basement. If needed I could put one in garage.

I would try the RBR and 1 RBS first. 3000sq ft should be enough for 1 RBR and RBS to cover.

I have a 5000sq ft home with garage and use 1 RBR on 2nd level and 1 in the basement. I do have an 2nd RBS however only use that on a as needed basis in the dining room on main floor. RBS are wired too but can do wireless.
