If one of you could send me a screenshot of the proposed version 3.2.18.1-signed, I would be able to escalate the information to the technical support teams to check the information 🙂

The same 3.2.18.1 version is showing for the RBK753S via update check on the Orbi admin page (192.168.1.1) but is not mentioned at all on the RBK753S Downloads page...

As someone else pointed out above, it seems all fimware versions have "signed" as a sufffix in the file name (e.g. I just downloaded 3.2.17.12 from the Downloads page, which is not a beta, and the filename also says "signed").

A firmware version with "signed" at the end of the number version is a Beta firmware.

Can you please send me a screenshot of the app where this version appears as available?

Thank you for your help.

I don't use the app.   It appears when you login on a pc and check for updates.  If it's a beta why is it on the netgear server?  Go look.

Ditto. It's a beta from router's 192.168.1.1? What the frak, Netgear? We don't want the prereleases!! Great. Now, we have to downgrade if it is true? 😞

Quote from kildare in that thread:

"RBK753s : 1 year Armor subscription included

RBK753: Armor free trial period only

"s" probably means "subscription"."

I assume you have to register an e-mail address to activate that free trial/year subscription which I never did since I didn't want it.

Hello,

After checking the information with the department concerned it appears that the firmware version is not a Beta version but the final version. This version is not yet available on the download center because there may sometimes be a delay in uploading it.

IF it's not available on the download center why are folks seeing it in their Orbi pc login.??

@vajim,

Precisely because it first appears in the application before appearing on the download center. It can sometimes take several days to appear to all users, often to avoid possible overloading of the download servers.

well that would be backwards.  it should NOT appear on any users screen until it's been FULLY tested and ready for download.

Actually what Netgear is doing is smart and not uncommon.  Limited release of the final firmware update for a short period of time before GA.

Re: V3.2.18.1-signed

Tried this firmware out this morning and issue 1 (speed related) occurred. Issue 2 occurs even with 3.2.16.x

1. My downstream wifi speeds are now 1/3 of what they should be. 😞

I had this issue BRIELY yesterday morning on 3.2.16.x, but a reboot of the Orbi and / or reconnecting to wifi on my laptop helped get speeds back to normal right away.

Today, with 3.2.18.x, a reboot and reconnect to wifi did NOT help: speeds are 1/3 of what they were before (150 Mbps vs 450 Mbps).

I will try a factory reset etc. but I hope it is not due to the firmware; if reset does not help, I will dowgrade to 3.2.17.x and see if that helps...

2. I also have display issues (as indicated in a separate thread) which happen regardless of whether I am on 3.2.16.x or 3.2.18.x (did not try 3.2.17.x):

a) 'model name' value is missing / blank for one satellite (see blank in second column)

b) firmware version was initially blank; eventually after 2 hours version # appeared, but it is incorrect - shows I am on the old version, supposedly *, but shows "no new firmware availablet"!

* But when I try to manually upgrade from v. 3.2.16.22 which is displayed, it then says I am already on latest v. 3.2.18.x!

And you get to deem whether Netgear fully tested something?  I would say Netgear has done a pretty good job with this specific product.

That opinion is based upon the remarkably few complaints in this forum.  When you weed out those who expect free 24x7 white glove concierge level support, general operator errors (aka people who have no idea what they are doing), and people that are mad the product is missing a capabillity they just assumed existed, but didn't verify before purchase, it is even fewer.

Clearly you have an ax to  grind with Netgear.  That doesn't change the fact that I and a bunch of people have already noted that the most recent firmware update works fine.  Keep in mind people with a problem are much more likely to post here than people that don't.

Nope,...I don't deem anything.  I only observe the 100s and 100s of folks who come in here after upgrading their firmware only to find it does not work properly.  Then it doesn't help the matters after which Gurus in this forum offer miles and miles of questios trying to fix a broken piece of firmware.

This is NOT ax gringing rather field reporting.  Hows that?   Concur with the notion that people with a problem are much more likely to post here than people that don't,...aka the squeaky wheel .

So don't get too excited with my comments.  I, like you are entitled to an opinion.  Cheers.

You said V3.2.18.1 was not fully tested.  Let’s wait a few weeks and you can show us the 100s and 100s who came in here and posted that it does not work properly.  Again, operator error and dissatisfaction that their feature was not added do not count as not working properly.

Can we agree now that if 100s and 100s don't post, you have no basis to deem this release as not fully tested?  Frankly unless you work at Netgear you have no idea what level of testing was done.

I like your position, however you may want to go back and read my original post.  Like Number 1.  All I was asking was what was this firmware with the words "signed".  That's it.  Someone else in the thread labeled it beta...not me.
