Re: AT&T Fiber (Gigabit service) + Arris BGW210 + Orbi - half speed?
ONT --> BGW210 --> Orbi RBK50 (router).
The wifi speed on the gateway is also half speed.
But WIRED on either gateway or Orbi are 900+.

Well, I was hoping for something like 800+, but didn't realize it realistically maxes out at ~550.
Thanks for the info.

For higher speeds on wifi, you'll need a router AND client side device that supports 160Mhz channel width on 5Ghz that supports 1733Mbps.

Re: AT&T Fiber (Gigabit service) + Arris BGW210 + Orbi - half speed?
My thinking of what happens here is for conventional devices like smartphone or laptop that support 802.11ac is to expect full bandwidth from their gigabit internet connection. On top of that, it's not easy to find out how fast your iPhone's WiFi chip can really run. Link speed rating never seems to match a speedtest anyway. Orbi translates signal strength of WiFi link to what speed it could deliver throughout and displays it in the app, but the connected device again won't match that displayed speed.

Re: AT&T Fiber (Gigabit service) + Arris BGW210 + Orbi - half speed?
Users can use wifi sweetspots spp on there mobile devices to see what connection rate there devices connection at the Orbi. Remember, this is only a connection rate between the device and the Orbi. Not actual throughput data flow. Also the max rate on Orbi systems is 866Mbps.
Data flow rates depend on client side Mfr design and support of there devices. Most current devices max out at around 400-600Mbps. New phone may be able to see near 900Mpbs...MFrs would have this information.
