Can't login to Microsoft applications from Android phone when connected to Wifi

This is SUPER weird.  Simply put, I can't login to Microsoft products from my Android phone while on Wifi.  I've seen this happen with Microsoft Family Safety, Authenticator, and OneNote - they all fail to login.

My phone is in the general profile with no restrictions along wth 50+ other devices in my home.  It's the only device having this issue.

If I disable wifi, suddenly the apps start to work.  If I join other wifi networks outside my home, they work perfectly as well.

Given it's a mobile device, I'm not sure how to monitor the traffic and see what's getting blocked?

Any ideas?

Apart from "this is crazy", there are some basic questions:

  • Which model of Orbi is this?
  • With which firmware release? (the number, not "the latest")
  • Are there other Android phones which are successful in using these Microsoft apps?
  • Is there a specific error message which comes up on the phone?
  • Does this Orbi have Bitdefender Armor enabled?

Re: Can't login to Microsoft applications from Android phone when connected to Wifi

The Model is the RBR50 with the latest firmware - v2.7.3.22

I have replicated the issue on 2 different Google Pixel phones, Pixel 3aXL and Pixel 5a.  I have not seen the issue on Fire tablets which are the only other Android device I have.

In OneNote, i'm show as "Working Offline sign in required E0000024 c3zov) and when i try to sign in, it fails and just asks me to sign in again

In Family safety, it says "Sign back in" and when I click it, I get Error An Error occurred.  Please try again later. (See photo)

Bitdefender Armor is NOT enabled but parental controls are.  This phone is NOT in a profile where there are parental controls.

I just love "an error occured. Please try again."  SO helpful!

My internet search for "Working Offline sign in required E0000024 c3zov" turned up a bunch of hits, so you are not the first person this has happened to. (not much consolation). I know so little about Microsoft apps (zero counts as 'little'?) Do any of these web results appear to be relevant to your situation?

Thanks CrimpOn - I've definitely done my due diligence on this and those search results have not helped.  The only "workaround" has been changing to a different network hence I believe there is an issue with the router + configuration.

I'm attaching an image from the "modem".  It's Model FOG421

NOTE, my previous router did NOT have this issue, it's only since the Orbi was introduced.

You might try a full on factory reset on the RBR. Turn OFF the RBS  and leave them OFF. I would power OFF the ONT for 1 minute then back ON. Setup the RBR from scratch and be sure to not enable Armor or parental controls right of the bat. Just setup wireless as before.

Test the wireless devices to see if anything changes.

If still happening, try putting the devices IP address into the RBRs DMZ as a quick test to see if same thing happens.
