Is there a way to assign devices to a particular satellite (e.g., I want my ring doorbell to always connect to the closest satellite)?
Yes. It's possible with different SSIDs. Just use the target SSID to force/steer the device to nearest satellite. If you're comfortable with telnet cmds, you can check out this: Separate SSIDs on Guest Network.
