Cannot change connected device info from browser menu - Orbi Router RBR50v2

When we are renaming connected devices, using the browser menu, we can rename some devices and not others.  For example, here are some issues after selecting a connected device and trying to supply meaningful information (3 fields) for identifying the device:

1. In the DEVICE MODEL field, we can add ‘Bose’ as the model manufacturer on some of our SoundTouch speakers and not others.  Same with Google for Chromecast devices.  The device model name we enter is simply ignored with no message box or explanation.
   
   
2. In the DEVICE NAME field, the pre-existing names can be quite long, but our input is limited to a shorter field length.  Somehow the router software is picking up longer default names from the device, but will not let us enter names of similar length.
   
   
3. In the DEVICE TYPE field, we can change the device type in order to show a new icon for some devices and not for others.  For example, we cannot change the Google Chromecast devices to a network device or TV, from being desplayed as a Linux PC by default.  If we make a change, it is ignored with no message box or explanation.

We would appreciate any help with this interesting anomally.  We do want to rename all of our devices properly so they can be quickly identified in the connected devices list.  This helps us quickly identify new unnamed devices and also unauthorized devices.

It would help to know the firmware release level.

Also, my experience is that the Attached Devices display does not update instantly.

i.e. when I change a device name, type, etc., click Apply, and then go back to the Attached Devices display...it DID NOT CHANGE>

But... if I then "Refresh" the values will change.

Could that be part of the problem?

Thank you CrimpOn, we followed your advice and made sure we had all the most recent updates.  The problem seems to be resolved at this point.  We have been able to change all of the names in our device list as needed.  Some interesting quirks, however, that are probably working as designed, but frustrating:

FIRST, we can edit the existing Device Model field, which is great.  However, when we edit the Device Name field, the existing entry disappears and we must enter a new name.  We cannot edit the pre-existing name.

SECOND, the device list keeps refreshing every 6 seconds or so, which makes it hard to read and select from the device list.

THIRD, every 5 minutes or so we are logged out of the Orbi local browser menu and must log back in.

Some of these issues make it a pain to work in the local browser menu.  Do you happen to have any solutions for these additional concerns?  Thank you for your assistance.
