Cannot connect Orbi to internet
Hi there,
I am hoping that someone in this forum will be able to assist me. Over the weekend I purchased the Orbi RBK 353. When I got home I commenced set up via the App and have been unable to get the Orbi to connect to the internet.
We are in Australia, our internet provider is Vodafone NBN the model of our modem is DMA0120VHA. I called the Netgear support line and the support person advised that I needed to attached the Orbi to the Vodafone modem because we have a 'dual modem / router" set up with Vodafone. This did not solve the problem. I checked the router user name and password, reset the modem and still no luck. I read some articles that suggested putting the Orbi into AP mode. I made this change, saw no difference, still on internet connection and I can no longer log into the Orbi app or Orbi Login page Getting error message - "Opps, you are not connected to your Orbi's network." I am not really sure where to go from here because I can no longer log into the app or the Orbi Log In page. Help please 😉
Can anyone provide any guideance on how I get the Orbi connected to the internet or fix the AP mode issue.
Thanks a million!

Re: Cannot connect Orbi to internet
the support person was right. The vodafone device is a modem/router combo device.
and running both the voadafone and the orbi causes a double nat.
A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.

I would start over from factory with both device. Factory reset them both, get the vodafone in the mode that you want, then connect the orbi and set it up in the mode you'd prefer.
