Cannot log in to Orbi RBS50V2

Trying to log into Orbi and see the "Usre Name" as "admin.

When I use what I thought was the correct password, I get error.

Should I reset to factroy settings?

Re: Cannot log in to Orbi RBS50V2

Did you setup password recovery?

Did you try the default password of password?

Keep in mind that the passwords are case sensitive.

If you don't know the password and didn't setup password recovery, then you might need a factory reset to get back into the router.

To add to what @plemans said, Orbi has two passwords:

  • The WiFi password, which is used to get a device connected to the Orbi, and
  • The administrative password, which is used to set up and manage the Orbi.

The administrative user name is always "admin" (and cannot be changed, which a lot of us find naive).

Both passwords are totally case sensitive.

If you enter the admin password incorrectly three times, the Orbi will pop up a screen asking if you want to do "Password Recovery".  If during the initial setup, you carefully selected and defined password recovery questions, this will allow you back into the Orbi.  (I know it works.  I have done it.)  HOWEVER, if rather than "pulling down" each of the menus and deliberately selecting a prompt before typing in the answer, it doesn't actually get set up.  (Again, I have done this and was really frustrated when it didn't work.)  Do not be in a hurry to get off of that screen.

So, yes, if you enter the user name "admin" and the administrative password that you believe to be correct three times, and the Password Recovery also fails, you have no choice but to perform a "Factory Reset".

Sorry.
