Cant access AP mode on Netgear Orbi RBR50
HI
I had my Netgear Orbi in AP mode for some time ( approx 2 years) which was setup by a Netgear support person after much actioning the product. I was having issues with the internet connection and was advised why i dont use the netgear orbi as a router direct instead of using my ISP provided router/modem.
I did a factory reset and disconnected the ISP router. I connected ny Netgear Orbi RBR50 directly into my NBN access point and connected to computer. All was fine until i tried opening a browser ( Chrome and Edge ) and searching the web. It wouldnt let me view any web pages as the it wasnt a secure site and i couldnt convert the pages to a HTTPS address as it couldnt read the certificate. I tried all different optins but to no avail.
So i went back to the old setup of the Orbi being an AP mode and reconnected the ISP modem but this didn't work as i couldn't connect to the orbi via an ethernet cable to get the adminsitration page to change the RBR 50 into AP mode. All i got was a page directing me to the Netgear Orbi app.
1/ Can someone assist with the HTTPS issue so i can have the Orbi plugged direct into NBN connection so i dont have to use the ISP router/ modem
2/ If the above cannot be done so i can get full features of the Orbi by updating firmware then how can i get my Orbi back into AP mode
Appreciate any assistance that can be provided.
regards,
Steve

When you see the page about using the Orbi app, scroll down to the bottom of that page and look for a link that says I don't have the app. This will start the web browser based setup wizard.

Re: Cant access AP mode on Netgear Orbi RBR50
HI Fluffye38- Thank you I was able to get into the webpage and adjust to AP mode.
One last question. I did a speed test and i am now getting the speeds that i previously had with the ISP router as well as with the Orbi now before i place this in AP mode ..what is the best advice ? Is it to keep the orbi as is connected to router or to make it into AP mode? Would there be any conflict with the other ISP router if i just keep the Orbi as is and not in AP mode?
I know if i put the Orbi into AP mode then i cant use the APP as a downside. So no firmware updates?
Also just to let you know i have 2 sateleittes both are upstairs in 2 storey home and the Orbi router is downstairs next to the ISP router
To get the best performace what should i do ? AP mode or leave as is with 2 SSID in the same household
Appreciate the advice.
Thanks ...Steve

Keeping in AP mode would be recommended.

30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

I would turn OFF the ISP Modems wifi radios to reduce wifi noise and interferences between the modem and orbi systems wifi. You only need the Orbi wifi to connect too.

I will go ahead and turn off the wifi radios onnthe ISP router to avoid any conflict.

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
