Connections to local network not working across Orbi router and satellites
Hello Everyone,
I got the RBK33 [1], which includes one orbi router and two wall-plugin satellites.
[1] https://www.netgear.com/orbi/rbk33.aspx
After setting it up, wifi & internet both work great for my 52 connected devices. The backhaul status on both satellites shows up as "good" and speeds are spectacular.
Of my connected devices, two of them are laptops, one of which has RDP enabled. I frequently RDP from laptop A to laptop B. One thing I noticed however, is that I cannot RDP unless both laptops are connected to the router (rather than to satellites), as seen through the "attached devices" page on the router settings.
When A is connected to a satellite, while B is connected to the router, then the connection doesn't work, even though both are supposedly part of the same local network (A has private address 192.168.1.59, B has private address 192.168.1.26)
When I move laptop A closer to the router, causing it to connect to the router rather than the satellite, then the RDP connection works just fine. It appears that devices can't communicate with each other unless they're both connected to the same Orbi device).
Any idea why this could be?
I have the following enabled:
1. daisy-chain topology
2. fast-roaming
3. implicit beamforming
4. WMM multimedia settings
5. Allow guests to see each other and access my local network
Please let me know if I can provide more information.

Re: Connections to local network not working across Orbi router and satellites
What Firmware is currently loaded?
Is Armor or Circle enabled on the system by chance?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

If you allow ping requests on the Windows laptops (https://kb.iu.edu/d/aopy ) can you ping one machine from the other (in both directions)? Does ping also appear to be sensitive to where the laptops are located?
