Having issues with downloads

Hi,

I recently got a RBK50 system with one sattilite. I have hooked up the system and everything is working ok except for my laptop. I am getting wifi on it but I can not do any updates on my windows, my kaspersky internet security or IPvanish. Can anyone help>

Re: Having issues with downloads

Can you please describe the situation in more detail.  The laptop connects to WiFi.  Ordinary activities like email, web browsing, printing, work correctly?  Only (1) Windows Update fails with an error code? (2) Kapersky antivirus does not update its database (with an error code?) and (3) IPVanish no longer allows you to reach the resources you use it for,

Or..... You use IPVanish for "everything" and "nothing works."

Thanks

Re: Having issues with downloads

The first thing I would think of in this case is multple routing.

Please do the following soimple test to check if you have multiple routers in your network:

Please open a Command Prompt on any computer attached to Orbi and type:

tracert 8.8.8.8  (or traceroute 8.8.8.8 if you're using a Mac computer)

  1. If you see two private IP addresses listed in the first two hops then you have double NAT. Please check the model of your ISP modem and if you have a manual for it.
  2. If you see only one private address and the second hop shows a public address, then you’re all good and we need then to troubleshoot further to find the root cause of the issue,

Re: Having issues with downloads

IPVanish has a whole series of support articles about how to get through routers.  One, for example, specifically how to deal with a "router behind a router": https://support.ipvanish.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002080193-Router-behind-router

Others talk about ports that need to be opened.

Re: Having issues with downloads

windows update - We couldn't connect to the update service.

kaspersky - doesn't say anything. It just starts then stops

IPV - An error occurred while sending the request.

Re: Having issues with downloads

What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

Can you temporarily disable Kaspersky and IPV?

Re: Having issues with downloads

Try powering OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute, then power ON and let it sync, Factory reset the RBR and setup from scratch with a wried PC.

Disable all security software programs temporarily on the PC.
Test for speeds and internet downloads.

Try different browsers and different devices...
