IoT connection issues
Hi Guys,
I'm facing this issue some time ago and I tried almos everything but without any full success.
My mesh setup is, one RBR50 2 RBS50 and 1 RBS20
I've in my house 12 switch sonoff connected to my Home Assistant. The switchs are in 0 floor and the HA Server are on 3rd floor, to increase the signal I installed one RBS50 on 2nd floor, so the path is Router -> RBS50 (2nd floor) -> RBS20 (3rd floor)
Almost all devices have the connection strong and without any isssues, but time to time 2 or 3 swichs loose the connection to the server even if I restart the switchsthe issue remains, I need to wait hours, days, weeks for the swtichs connect again and other fails...
If I ping from the server 3rd floor to the 1st I can't get the ping, but if I connect directly on RBR50 (0 floor) other eth for example I can ping without any issue the switch and the server, also the same over wifi if I'm connected on RBR50.
I've done some wifi changes like
- Long Preamble and Transmit
- Power Control = 50%
- Enabled/Disable Daisy-Chain Topology
- Enable/Disable Implicit BEAMFORMING
- Enable/Disable MU-MIMO
- I've fixed the IP in switchs
- Reserved the MAC on Ethernet configs,
without any results.
I don't know what do more to stable the connection betwen switchs and the server
FW installed in all devices: V2.7.3.22
What can I do more to try solve this issue?
Thank you

Re: IoT connection issues
Are these all the same model of Sonoff switch? (which one?)
Do the same switches fail every time, or is it all switches?
For the path to be router->satellite->satellite, Daisy Chain must be on.

Re: IoT connection issues
Hi,
the sonoff are all T1EU Wifi Smart Switch (1 and 2 gang) with lastest tasmota firmware (the older ones have the same issue)
No, it's not all at the same time, it's 2 or 3 then the others are working good without any issues.
I have the Daisy Chain ON but to test I disable, this is not the solution so I enable it again.
thank you

Re: IoT connection issues
Thanks for the model number. Does this device display an LED pattern when it is off-line, as described in this post:
https://support.itead.cc/support/discussions/topics/11000001238
Sorry my question was not written well. When you notice a switch not working, is the problem limited to certain switches, or is it random?
i.e. one day 2-3 switches may be off-line. Another day 2-3 different switches off-line.
Is there a pattern of failing switches being connected to a specific Orbi unit?
The web interface, Attached Devices page shows which Orbi each switch is connected to.
Is the Ping problem constant and repeatable?

- LED pattern
The LED pattern looks like the OFFLINE, if I turn the energy down and up again, sometimes the switch comes on online.
This is what I can see in the switch console.
8:38:05.978 MQT: Connect failed to 192.168.1.11:1883, rc -2. Retry in 120 sec
08:38:33.512 RSL: STATE = {"Time":"2021-09-07T08:38:33","Uptime":"0T18:52:18","UptimeSec":67938,"Heap":27,"SleepMode":"Dynamic","Sleep":50,"LoadAvg":19,"MqttCount":1,"POWER":"OFF","Wifi":{"AP":1,"SSId":"MyHome","BSSId":"xxxxxxxxx","Channel":13,"Mode":"11n","RSSI":58,"Signal":-71,"LinkCount":3,"Downtime":"0T00:00:16"}}

08:40:06.996 MQT: Connect failed to 192.168.1.11:1883, rc -2. Retry in 120 sec
- switch not working
it's random, example Switch_1 Switch_2 Switch_3 Swtich_4
day one:
Switch_1 on Switch_2 off Switch_3 on Switch_4 off
Next days or weeks
Switch_1 off Switch_2 off Switch_3 on Switch_4 on
Next days or weeks
Switch_1 on Switch_2 on Switch_3 on Switch_4 on
next days or weeks
Switch_1 on Switch_2 on Switch_3 off Switch_4 off
I can't get a pattern here... almost the switches are connected to the router, and I have 2 or 3 connected to one satellite installed also on my 0 floor
I can reach the switch web interface if I'm in 0 floor connected to router or the satellite I've here, but I got yo the 3rd floor I can't ping the Switch and i can't reach the web interface
- Ping issue
I've also in 3rd one server with VMs and i can reach all of them, also, when I see one switch offline I make some tests remotely doing router -> 3rd floor and inside the VM 3rd floor -> router
I'm sorry if I'm not explain better way, but this is wired and this only happens with IoT devices specially with switches

Re: IoT connection issues
Curious fact:
Today I have 2 switches offline, then I unplugged the RBS20 from the energy wait like 5 min and plugged again.
The switches come to online...
So, with this test maybe the problem is the communication between the router and satellite loose packages and the switches comes offline somehow...
Another test I will do is, change the RBS20 is on 3rd floor for one RBS50 I've in 0 floor and see if this still happens.
