Is it worth upgrading from RBK50 to CBR40?

Is it worth upgrading from RBK50 to CBR40?

Currently have RBK50 with RBW30 to cover 5,000SF. The setup works fine and I have had no issues.

Is it worth upgrading to CBR40? I am on Spectrum internet. I would give back that modem. I would give the older router to my daughter to use in her apartment.

Is CBR40 compatible with these satellites?

Thank you

I would keep the RBK50 system and install a CM series modem instead.

Thought the CBK40 system is good and works well, the RBK50 systems is a bit for flexible and has better performance speeds on the backhaul.

The CBK40 works well however not all ISP may support it on there networks, something to ask the ISP about before buying. The CBK working as a gateway modem/router however it can't work in AP mode as the RBK50 can. The CBK40 works in gatway router or modem only modes.

You can add RBS to either RBK50 or CBK40. I had my CBK40 setup in a 5000sq ft home with just 1 RBS20...worked very well.

I agree with @FURRYe38 . The CBR40 is not an "upgrade".  The WiFi backhaul performance is less than the RBK50, and it sticks you with a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, just at a time when ISP's are deploying DOCSIS 3.1 modems (or fiber).

A lot of people calculate the "break even" on renting vs. owning a modem and decide to become responsible and purchase their own.  Their thinking seems to be: (a) these things hardly ever break, and (b) if it does break, I'll just buy a new one with all that money I've saved from the monthly rental.

WiFi for the apartment is a different decision.  Since you were planning to keep the satellite, the daughter can use "any old WiFi system".
