My HP Pavilion laptop can't find my Orbi RKB50 (firmware v2.1.4.16) wireless network. My laptop is running on W10 and has a b/g/n wifi adapter. My other devices (Macbook Pro, Iphone 6s, Iphone 7) are working great. Can it has something to do with the lack of an ac wireless adapter on the Windows laptop??
Do you have any idea how to get the Windows laptop on my Orbi network?
Thank you for your help!
Kind regards from The Netherlands,
Barry

Suggestions are only temporarily to see if you can get the adapter to work. You can go back to normal configurations after testing.
Try changing SSID name as well. Something simple with a simple PW and test. change back after testing.

Re: Laptop can't find RBK50 wifi network
You may have a older wifi adapter card in this laptop which may not work well. Does it support 5Ghz besides 2.4Ghz?
Whats the Mfr and model if the wifi adapter card?
Temporarily disable WPA security on the Orbi, apply then try to connect the laptop. Does it connect then?
Then set WPA and TPIK only and test. Then try WPA2 and mixed TPIK and AES.
Try setting 20Mhz channel width on the Orbi under wireless settings.
Disable MIMO, Daisy Chain and Fast Roaming on the Orbi.

Re: Laptop can't find RBK50 wifi network
Thank you for your reply. The laptop has a Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi adapter onboard.
And it's not about connecting. The laptop even can't see the Orbi network.
The other trics you mention; does these affect al the other (working) devices?

Re: Laptop can't find RBK50 wifi network
It was the default name. I changed it and the Windows laptop found the Orbi network. I changed it back to default, and the Windows laptop still found the Orbi network.

Re: Laptop can't find RBK50 wifi network
Ok. Odd. Well you should change the default SSID name to something different. Make is something fun or for your needs.
Enjoy.
