ORBI AC2200 = satellite keeps defaulting to 2.4

ORBI AC2200 = satellite keeps defaulting to 2.4

ORBI AC2200 = one satellite gets 5.0, but the other keeps defaulting to 2.4.

Any way to fix this, or do I need to return it?

My son says there is a Nighthawk that works better.  Please advise.

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

What do you mean by defaulting to 2.4?

What devices are you connecting to the Orbi system?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

The modem is an Arris DG2480.

We have 400 mbps internet service.

We got the NETGEAR - Orbi AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System (3-pack). One satellite gets a 5.0 channel, but the other one of the satellites keeps defaulting to the 2.4 channel. Any way to fix this? One gets approx 280mbps, the other around 75mbps.

Each satellite is about 40-45 feet from the main Orbi. Our home is a two-story, 3600 sq ft.

What happens if you swap the two satellites? (exchange locations) Radio connects in a straight line. Perhaps there is too much immaterial n the direct path for the 5G signal to penetrate.

What Firmware is currently loaded on the RBR and RBS? Ensure all units are on the same version of FW.

Has a factory reset been performed on the one RBS that seems be not working?

How are you determining that the one RBS is only defaulting to 2.4Ghz?

What devices are you connecting to the RBS?

Using any wifi apps?

FYI, your ISP modem has a built in router and wifi already. Have you diabled its' wifi here as well? Modem Combo Units:
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: ORBI AC2200 = satellite keeps defaulting to 2.4

My ISP says they would have to come out to put the modem/router into BridgeMode.

They suggested I just buy a new modem, and turn in the old one.

Our current modem/router is an Arris DG2480.

Would do you recommend?  16x4 or 32x8 ?

ISP says to get minimum Docsis 3.0.  Do you agree?  Or, should it be 3.1?

How about this one?

I would recommend the CM1000:

Whatever you do, if you buy Netgear go for "CMXXXX" models. That is the modem only option.

Some people have gone for a CXXXX model which is a modem/router and all of the hassle that that entails.
