ORBI RBR50 Router- Internet shows offline but satellites connected

I have an ORBI RBR50 Router and x2 RBS50 Satellites.  My RBR50 router is connected via Cat 5 cable to the new Verizon G3100 Router.  I show that the satellites are connected to the RBR50 router.  My problem is that the RBR50 router shows "offline" in the ORBI app.  I can find the ORBI wifi network on all my devices but can't connect b/c the ORBI router is offline.

Please help, I am really stuck here.

Thank you.

Re: ORBI RBR50 Router- Internet shows offline but satellites connected

If your ISP Modem/ONT has a built in router, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. Could cause problems with the Orbi app.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

If #1 can't be done, try option #2...

Re: ORBI RBR50 Router- Internet shows offline but satellites connected

Furrye38,

Thanks for responding so quickly with the recommendatiions and links  I'm excited to try them once I look up all the terminology (LOL).  Seriously though, thank you and I'll report back with what I find out.

Quick follow-up...would it make more sense to just use the ORBI RBR50 router and get a switch to add the extra ports I need?  The ORBI only has 3 and I would need at least 4.  I'd love to not have to rent the Verizon router but not sure if that is a possibility.

Certainly. I have a 24pt and a 8pt switch connected behind my RBR. Couple of daisy chained behing the 24 and 8 port switches as well for my configuration needs. Works well.
