ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
Hello
I have a RBS50 and for the last month and a half I have had major troubles with our mobile devices. The internet will not work on our cell phones, but will the laptop. Is there anything I can do to correct this?

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
More information would be helpful.
RBS50 is the model number for an Orbi satellite, which is usually sold as a "package" including one Orbi RBR50 router. The router is connected to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) device. Can you confirm that this is indeed the situation, and provide the brand and model number of the ISP device?
Is the issue that:
- The phones do not connect to the Orbi WiFi?
Is there an error message? - The phones do connect to the Orbi WiFi, but do not have internet access?
How is this Orbi system managed?
- Using the Orbi web administration (http://orbilogin.net)
- Using the Orbi smartphone 'app'
- Not managed at all.

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
Hello,
Yes, sorry I do have the RBR50 and one satellite.
The internet we use is DHCP type isp. Model WG 3526
Our mobile devices see the wifi and it says we are connected, but no pages or apps will open when 'connected'. The Amazon Echo will not connect either. The laptop and ring cameras are fine.
The Orbi system is not managed. I tried to create an account it will not let me via web or app.
Thanks so much for the help. We have not had issues ever with this, this is an issue that has happened in the last month. I was just dealing with it and using data, but finally asked for help.

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
I did try again with the correct serial number on the router and I was able to create an account. I am able to log in to manage orbi now.

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
Hello,
No nothing has been resolved. I replied 2 times because I was able to create a log in to the orbi. My reply I had said I could not.
Still not able to load any webpages or apps on mobile. Laptop and ring cameras are fine.

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
Now that you have access to the Orbi web interface, it may be helpful to look at the Attached Devices page.
Does the page say Access Control is Turned On or Off (top center of the page)?
Scrolling down the list of devices, do the devices that are not working appear on the list, have IP addresses, and show a Good connection to Orbi units?

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
(Please ignore whatever the hell that random post was. I have reported it to the forum moderators as 'inappropriate'.)
I am at a loss. When a device has an IP address and Access Control is not 'on', the device should connect to the internet and do whatever it needs to do. Could there be some setting on the phone that is blocking access? (what kind of phone is it?)

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
I have an Android. It has worked for years since I got the Orbi.. It just happened the last 1 month or so. Bummer. I will have to look for a different wifi extender as I need it for my cell. Thanks for your time. I greatly apprecate it.

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
On my Android phone, in the Network Settings, when I click on the name of the current WiFi system, there is an option to display information (appears as a 'gear' icon). Under that is an option for 'advanced' that shows more information (MAC address, IP address, subnet mask, etc.) and even the speed of the link.
Does the phone display only the WiFi 'bars' symbol, or does it display an error message?

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
It says ORBI16 with full bars and connected. network speed 866 Mbps, security WPA2 PSK, then the ip address.

Re: ORBI RBS50 MOBILE CONNECTION
Well this is just nutty. According to the phone, it is connected to the Orbi at 5G, with a very high communications link rate. It should work.
What happens when the phone is connected to a different WiFi system? (not cellular data)
(perhaps a friend, neighbor, coffee shop, work?)
Does this Orbi have Guest access enabled?
Being a long time tech-nerd, I have a number of Android apps on my phone which can be used to examine network issues, such as:
- Fing
- NetAnalyzer by Jiri Techet
- Network Tools from Hurricane Electric
The first thing I would do is use one of these tools to 'ping' the Orbi router (usually 192.168.1.1). If that works, ping some internet URL, such as 1.1.1.1 (CloudFlare DNS server) or ford.com.
There was an obscure problem with Domain Name Servers many months ago, but my memory is that it affected all devices on the network, not just some of them.
