I upgraded my Motorola 3.0 DOCSIS to a new 3.1 DOCSIS but have failed to get wifi xmit with ORBI. I called optimum (Suddenlink) and they see the modem and successful transmission on their end. Then I reconnected my ORBI system and would get a wifi connection for about 1 minute then lost. Rebooting modem, router, unplug/plug cables and nothing. Then connected MacBook to router wan port successfully but that's all. Anytime the wifi connected it died in a minute or less. Reattached my old modem and rebooted everything and all is fine. Firmware check from the ORBI iPhone app says firmware is current. Any thoughts??
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Yes. Orbi supports any WAN connection that uses ethernet RJ45 connection.
Be sure your using good quality LAN cable between the modem and RBR. CAT6 is recommended.
Check with the ISP to see if there is any special configurations other than DHCP needed to be set on the Orbi system. Most Cable ISP use DHCP however could be something special needed.
If you connect a wired PC to the modem and power cycle it, does it get internet services thru the modem? If it doesn't, then it could be the modem. Connecting the RBR to the modem should use same power cycle on the modem to get it to connect to the RBR.

Re: ORBI RKB50 & Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 modem
What Firmware version is currently loaded on the Orbi system?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
If the old modem is working and the new one doesn't, sounds like something the ISP needs to look into.

Re: ORBI RKB50 & Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 modem
Tried to reconnect the new modem and same issue so reconnected old modem and it works. ISP says they can see the new Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 modem receiving and sending. My RBR50 has firmware v2.7.4.24 and indicates no update available.
Seems to me to be a Netgear ORBI problem. Would be great if someone could say yes that system can't handle either the DOCSIS 3.1 config or output. Sucks I have to return modem ...
