Ooredoo Orbi RBR50 Moving Countries
Hi,
I recently moved home from Qatar to Denmark.
In Qatar I had an Orbi RBR50, which I was very happy with, so decided to buy it from the local operator Ooredoo.
After arriving in Denmark and connecting it to my fiber, it gives me internet access for 5-10 seconds before saying there is no connection and then the light on the router turns purple.
I have tried doing the factory reset and also changing the network name and password, with same result - internet access for a few seconds before losing it.
The router has an Ooredoo logo printet on it, and admin, password at the bottom label is also with the Ooredoo network name and password.
Is it possible the telco in Qatar have had Netgear do something to the router so it only works on an Ooredoo fiber connection? or is there something else I can try doing?
I have two other routers which work fine on the fiber connection - but would prefer getting the Orbi working.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thank you,
Kenneth

Check with your new ISP to ensure there services are working well.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute them back ON.

IF the Orbi system was given to you by an ISP, then it maybe there FW and support that is on this system which they are responsible for as some ISP develop there own FW and install on NG hardware systems and they are responsible for support and information regarding it. You would need to contact that ISP to see what they say.

That sounds like something to chat with Ooredoo about. When the original Orbi came out, Verizon sold the RBK50 package in stores. It was only after customers began trying to update the firmware that they discovered the firmware was locked. Only Verizon could update firmware, and Verizon had long since lost interest in the product. Ooredoo may have done something similar.
When the router was Factory Reset, did the web administration credentials change to "admin" and "password"?
The WiFi credentials would be whatever was printed on the product label, unless the original product label was covered or replaced
The region code is almost certainly not appropriate for Denmark, which might affect the WiFi channels the Orbi attempts to use.

Factory Orbi's have only the WiFi name (SSID) and password ( random words and a number) printed on the label. Until it is changed by the user, the admin credentials are "admin" and "password". For every Orbi I have seen, the original WiFi name is ORBI plus 2 digits, such as ORBI21 or ORBI98.
