Orbi Ac2200
I hope people are doing well and satying during these difficult times. Since we are now all working from home and having to help homeschool, we were having issues with our Wifi. We did our research and bought the Orbi AC2200. I thought this would help.
We have our Router in the Basement on one side of the house, a Satelite in the middle of the Main Floor and the Second Satelite at the other end of the House upstairs. We have done what is recommended. However we are having issues with the Wifi still.
Many of the decives are showing a single bar and for some reason the Mainfloor TV is connecting to the upstairs Satellite and the Xbox upstair in my sons room is connecting to the main floor satelite. There is no rhyme or reason what each device connects to.
All the reviews are great but I am disappointed to see some of the Wifi not working correctly. Could my sateliltes be a issue? placement of the statellite? Do I need another satelite even though my house is under 3,000sq feet.
Any help would be great.

Re: Orbi Ac2200
Basements are not recommended placement or locations for the main host router and wifi. I would get the RBR out of the basement and up on the main floor. You can put the RBS in the basement.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Re: Orbi Ac2200
Thanks for the response! Unfortunately I can't move my modem from the basement as this is where they set-up everything.
How do you manually set a channel? I think it must be on auto.
Thanks

don't waste your time on setting a manual channel.....your neighbors are doing the same.
is it possible to run a ethernet cable out of the basement to a new location for the Orbi ...maybe the next floor up. The middle of the house is best.
