Orbi RBR10 5 ghz channel change?
The user manual states "Note: The 5GHzWiFichannel is fixed and you cannot change it." Why is this? The system allows me to change the 2.4 GHz channel. I am wanting to change the channel to hopefully improve my WiFi speed and performance.

I think this is becaue the RBK1x is a dual band (not tri band) system. It uses the 5 GHz band both for the fronthaul as well as backhaul links. The system will thus choose the channels in order to avoid you chosing the same channel as the one used for backhaul.

Imagine that the user is able to change this single channel and does so while one of the satellites is powered off. When that satellite turns on again, there's "nobody home" on the backhaul link. Well, damn. Router must not be workiing. Have to wait for it to show up again.... which it never does. With enough programming effort, a solution could probably be found where the various RBx10 units search through the WiFi spectrum looking for each other. Netgear seems to have avoided the issue by locking the frequency.
Note that while Ucustomers can specify the user 5G channel on the tri-band products, they cannot specify the backhaul channel.
