Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
I get 1 gb up and down via the wired connection from my orbi to a Mac Pro desktop. However when doing the speed test via the orbi app, I get 500 mbps down and 1 gbps up.
This speed ratio holds true with any device connected to wifi. On a 5ghz device near the orbi my upload speed will be approx 600 mbps while I only get 250 mbps down.
Is there any reason the orbi would be throttling WiFi download speeds? It seems odd that the internal speed test reads 500 down and 1 gig up while my Mac Pro connected via Ethernet to the orbi is 1 gig up and down.
Firmware 2.2.1.210

Re: Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
Wireless speeds will max out at around 500Mb depending upon client HW support and design. IF your getting wired speeds to spec, then the Orbi is working well. Always test wired speeds first.

Re: Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
I also tested wired speeds and they are equal up and down via wired connection. Please re read my post and advise if you have any thoughts on what is causing.
Thanks!

Re: Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
What devices are you using for wireless testing?
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try disabling the following and see:
MIMO, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

If you updated to recent FW v.210, try enabling Daisy Chain. Some have mentioned that this seems to be working in reverse order, enabling means disabled actually.

Re: Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
Additional responses below but I'll also add that today my wired speed tests on the orbi show 750up/950down. I plugged my mac pro directly into my Century link modem via wired connection and Immediately got 920up/950 down. These new tests are also post factory reset.

Tried this based on previous posts, no difference

Tried with no difference

Re: Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
Wired testing is best for testing 1Gb ISP speeds. You will not see anything near 900Mb on wireless. Max is about 400-500Mb for wireless.

Re: Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
The wired speeds are 1 gig coming out of my modem. I’ve tested them 100 times. When I turn WiFi on on my century link modem I get 500 up and down.
The orbi caps downloads at 250 but the upload speed is 500. I’ve tried turning all suggested options on and off.
It seems I have a defective product.

Re: Orbi RBR20 download speed half of upload
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too? Built in router here? If so,
Modem Combo Units:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
I would try Option #3...
