Orbi RBR20 unable to access Web interface or connect to router from Obi App after firmware upgrade
I recently updated the firmware oy my Orbi RBR20 and after the upgrade I noticed that the Orbi application was no longer able to connect to the Orbi, same for Web Interface. I tried factory reset multiple times with no sucess, the Wifi name goes back to the default name and the router IP is changed to 192.168.1.1 but still not able to access the Web interface to do the initial setup.
tried with a wired computer connected to the LAN port, laptop is getting an IP assigned 192.168.1.2. Netmask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.1.1 and Im able to ping the IP 192.168.1.1 but not able to open the page http:\\192.168.1.1, also orbilogin.com and orbilogin.net is not working.
Any help would be appreciated.

"Not able to open as in:
- No web page appears in the browser with a box asking you to authenticate?
- The web page appears, but when you enter "admin" and "password", those credentials are rejected?

No web page appears in the browser with a box asking you to authenticate like if the page does not exists or the web server service in the router is not running somehow.

Had you changed the router LAN subnet IP to something else? (not 192.168.1.1)

Re: Orbi RBR20 unable to access Web interface or connect to router from Obi App after firmware upgra
Do you think I should try accessing a different IP 192.168.0.1 instead of 192.168.1.1 even if the last IP is pingeable and is the Gateway assigned by the dhcp.
Thanks for your help.

I don’t recall if the previous IP subnet was not 192.168.1.x, the router was sitting in my closet for 12-13 months and was trying to use it again. strange thing is that after factory reset the Gateway that I get from the DHCP (Orbi) is 192.168.1.1 and is pingeable from a wired or wireless connection is just that the webpage is not displayed, also the wifi name is changed back to the default name Orbi88.
A factory reset is supposed to set the WiFi name and password to the values printed on the case and to set the web credentials to "admin" and "password". To be totally honest, I do not know if the Orbi remembers what mode it was in (router vs. AP) There being no web page is just crazy.
An interesting bit of trivia:
When the Orbi router boots up and gets an IP address using DHCP, there are times when the router is "behind" another router which has chosen to use 192.168.1.x for its LAN subnet and assigns one of those IPs (such as 192.168.1.2) to the Orbi. Well, if 192.168.1.x subnet is on the WAN side of the Orbi, it cannot also be on the LAN side. So, Orbi has to pick another private IP.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network , which can be any subnet from these choices:
- 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.255
- 10.0.0.0 through 10.255.255.255
- 172,16,0,0 through 172.31.255.255
(I hope there is a reason, but think it was just probably a whim) Orbi changes to 10.0.0.x for the LAN subnet.
If this had happened to you, then 192.168.1.1 might very well be the IP address of the ISP device the Orbi is connected to and the Orbi is really at 10.0.0.1 However, since the wired PC was assigned an IP address of 192.168.1.2 and a gateway of 192.168.1.1, that does not seem to be the case. Unless... the Orbi was in AP mode and the reset did not change it back to router mode.
One easy test is to disconnect the WAN (Internet) cable, reset the router again (paperclip), connect the wired PC and see what happens.
The other bit of trivia: Orbi routers do not require an internet connection to function. Not useful for most of us, but there was a medical group that took an Orbi system to Haiti to provide a network for their patient management system and they had no internet.

Re: Orbi RBR20 unable to access Web interface or connect to router from Obi App after firmware upgra
This is very strange the firmware upgrade (from Orbi App) didn’t fail or anything, the Orbi was rebooted and after the reboot it never connected again to the app or showed the web interface.
