Orbi RBR40 Dropping internet every 10-15min after firmware upgrade
I am not a tech guy. I purchased the orbi RBR40 with 1 satalite, for Alexa, and smart TVs in our house in May 2017. Since i updated the firmware on the router on 4-29-19 to 2.3.1.37, the connection to the internet drops every 10-15 minutes, so watching a Samsung smart TV app stops, alexa resets. Internet connection goes away on ipads, iphones and laptops.
The conection comes back in 2to 3 minutes, just long enough to have to reset everything.
I dont have a PC, only laptops. I dont know how to manually update firmware, i did it throught the app.
is there a simple fix to this issue? I have also been locked out of the "orbilogin" site because i cant remember the name of the first Netgear product I owned.

Re: Orbi RBR40 Dropping internet every 10-15min after firmware upgrade
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Ensure your using a good known quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
I would update to v48 manually by downloading the files for the RBR and RBS. First update the RBS(s) to v48, then update the RBR lastly to v48. Use a wired PC and a web browser, IE11 or FF or Opera to do this.
Once all is updated, factory reset the entire system and setup from scratch. Then see how the system does...

Technicolor Modem from Spectum Model TC8717T.
I dont have a PC to do the Process recommended. I WAS ABLE TO TALK TO SOMEONE AT SPECTRUM! The tech person updated "the bridging" for the modem. I am concerned that i will not be able to fix this issue if it continues because I do't have a PC.

Re: Orbi RBR40 Dropping internet every 10-15min after firmware upgrade
Yes the ISP modem has a router and wifi built in already.
Modem Combo Units:
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Do you have a family member, friend or neighbor how migh have a laptop with a LAN port you could barrow?
