Yes, connecting with the August App and it's probably crappy. The device has to connect at 2.4. Just now, I disabled the SSID broadcast for 5.0 and confrmed the phone was connected to 2.4 Ghz. Still didn't connect. Tried disabling the daiseychaining as well and that didn't do anything. Is there a way to connect the device without the app?

I never "guarantee", but this time I will "guess very strongly", "NO." When an IoT device has no keyboard and no camera, the only way it can learn the WiFi SSID/password is to have a smartphone app connect to the device and "tell it" the SSID/password. For a (very) few devices, this is with a Bluetooth connection. The vast majority seem to include a very primitive WiFi access point in the device. Just enough to broadcast a unique looking WiFi SSID that an app in the smartphone can connect to.
