Have you tried upgrading your RBS50 from v2.2.1.210 to v2.2.1.212, then to v2.5.1.16? See https://kb.netgear.com/000060612/RBR50-RBS50-Firmware-Version-2-2-1-212 for details, this interim firmware is required to upgrade to v2.3 and later.

I believe the interim version is only needed for the RBR. RBS can and should be able to update directly to something later. AT least was a couple of users posting about his when that first came out...
